It's the oldest story in the world, really...City is falling into Ocean, Boy moves to City to die, Boy meets Girl who also wants to stop living, Boy and Girl fall in love, Boy and Girl fall out of love, the Walls of Reality start to break down, there's a foul-mouthed and chain-smoking space/time elf...erm...Boy and Girl fall back in love but keep it under wraps...right...Boy and Girl get unstuck in Time, Girl gets kidnapped by elderly cult...hmmmm...Boy and Girl decide to live...you know what, actually, it might not be the oldest story in the world...but it is a very good one.
Sure, there is a fair amount of depth to the story, but ignore that...really. It's a hardboiled romance that masquerades as slapstick satire. Or it's an apocalyptic, dark urban fantasy with kinky, sci-fi undertones...Or, it's just this book...you know...full of sex, violence, philosophy, sex, symbolism, dark humor, insights into the human mind and, uhm...sex.
This is the book that underground, secret societies keep in their bathrooms, for a bit of 'light reading'. Sure to entertain, horrify, make most laugh, some cry and upset quite a few. And if it actually makes you momentarily think about universal conditions and your place in them, well, you can always ask for your money back (not that you'll get it...).
Come, see what all of the fuss is about.

The Cinderella of Chimes eBook Paul Densmore Reviews
The story really sucks you in. The way paul gets through philosophy in a symbolic way really keeps the flow going without feeling heavy or dragging the story down. Was a really great read. I would recommend it to anyone!
Difficult book to write a review for but I thought I'd give it a go as it is a new book and a new author and I honestly believe it deserves a little feedback.
At first, I wasn't sure if this was a book I would love or if it would end up frustrating me. The author has such an obvious wit and wicked sense of humour that I feared this would be another read where the narrative took second place to the style - wit over weight. Not so! Ten pages in and I got the impression that this book was very possibly going to be something special, and for me it was.
I don't want to give ANYTHING away, as it is a real delight to witness the story unfold, but it is all about 2s and 3s and their many permutations, it is also a straight up slapstick adventure story.
While the story does get pretty far out in places, the surrealism never feels forced or just for effect. I think this is because there is an underlying coherency, so that even at its craziest it obeys its own internal logic and so never jars with the reader, much like Murakami's flight of fancies.
It would be horrible to burden it with such comparisons but I think that people who enjoy the work of Robert Anton Wilson would love this as it has similar mix of the profound and the playful and burns bright with a fierce optimism.
Many thanks for this book Mr. Densmore, I wish it and you much success and look forward to the next one.
The story kept changing locations because I think the main character kept dreaming. It was difficult for me to follow.
Reminds me a lot of Michael Moorcock, and of course, Neil Gaimen and Philip Pullman. A really good read for mystic travelers and people who like weird supernatural stuff. Set in New Orleans, the perfect meeting place for the Living and the Dead.
If you enjoy something off the beaten track, that makes you think, this book is for you. Romance? Of course. Zombies, time travel, off beat gods... full of interesting twists that will bring you to a satisfactory ending.
